The Benefits Of Aerobic Exercise

Aerobics are good for you, regardless of your weight or age; in fact this type of exercise is especially good if your goal is to lose weight and keep it off. Aerobics can be lifting heavy weights or intense stretching, or it can be a rhythmic exercise such as walking, jogging or swimming; in fact anything that helps to strengthen the heart and lungs.

Regular exercise has been proven to be effective at alleviating stress, and most of us feel better about ourselves and have increased self confidence after working out. Aerobic exercise can also help to boost the body’s immune system, increasing your overall resistance to illness.

In the US, heart disease is the leading killer, and another big advantage of these exercises routines is that they can lower the risk of a stroke or heart attack. Older people who exercise regularly can enjoy healthier and stronger bones, and less chance of developing brittle or fragile bones as they age.

Basic aerobic exercises can be ideal for anyone wanting to lose weight. Not only are you burning calories, but working out can also decrease your appetite and make it less likely for you to want to overeat. Exercise can speed up the process of losing weight, especially when maintaining a balanced diet at the same time.

Aerobic exercise has other health benefits too. It can lower your blood pressure and help you to maintain the appropriate levels of good and bad cholesterol. Repeated studies have shown that women who work out on a regular basis are less likely to develop breast cancer, and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes is also lower too.

However it isn’t just your body that can benefit from regular walking, stretching or lifting weights. Regular working out can improve the memory and the ability to focus, and can even lower the chances of becoming depressed. Most of us simply feel better if we know we are exercising.

A gym membership can be expensive, and walking, swimming or simple stretches have the advantage of being easy to do, and requiring no special equipment. It costs nothing to walk around the block a few times a night, or to walk around your office building or school a couple of times a day. Although working out with a companion may be more fun, you can cycle, swim or jog by yourself just as easily; in fact, there is no excuse not to get in shape.

Placentas Don’t Provide Benefits to Moms

no health benefitsThere are a lot of different things that different moms try to do in order to make sure that they are able to get the best benefits out of their pregnancy. One of those things that has become really trendy in recent months is eating the placenta, either by feasting on it or by taking pills that have it infused in them. Either way, it’s a really important trend to watch, and there are studies that are coming out now that suggest that there is absolutely no benefit to ingesting it and that Moms should be a little more careful when it comes to what they’re putting inside their bodies during the process of nursing their little ones.

Those same studies are also suggesting that the placentas actually may have a number of toxins in them, which could be dangerous for both mom and baby as well as reason to visit the eye doctor from infections that can happen to prevent loss of potential 20 20 vision . This is still not totally substantiated by science at this point, but it definitely is a case where there needs to be further study and that some moms may want to take a moment and rethink their choices in this area, at least until the research becomes more detailed and we get more definite answers about the whole thing and how it can help or hurt the mother and the child.

Why did mothers do it in the first place? Because there were some claims that said, in short, that mothers were going to be able to get a lot of essential nutrients of all types from eating the placenta after their children were born. This was based on a number of things, including the fact that many animals do the same exact thing when their young are born, and that there are benefits to them when they do it. Like we said above, that didn’t have a lot of research behind it at that point either, so it’s important to look at the whole thing critically before you decide to do it or avoid it.

What do you think? Do you think that the placenta ingestion is a good thing, or that more research needs to be done before any sort of determination can be made? Have you considered doing it at all, or do you think it’s a type of “pop medicine” that really doesn’t have a lot of backing in science? It’s an interesting topic to explore and think about..
